Policies and Procedures/Part 4: Other Matters
PETS
The condominium By-Laws permit residents to keep birds, fish or other small animals which are restrained within an enclosure at all times inside the unit. Dogs and cats are permitted provided they are no taller than 18” at the shoulder (as measured and documented by a veterinarian).
• If you have such a dog or cat when you first move into Crossbow Point then the dog/cat is permitted and you should familiarize yourself with the further requirements below.
• If, as an existing owner, you wish to have a dog or a cat in your unit, then pre-approval is required by the Board of Directors; this includes such dog/cat that is no taller than 18” at the shoulder. Approval requests should be submitted to PEKA.
• Visiting dogs/cats are only permitted per the height restriction.
• All animals must be on a leash on all common and town property. This includes inside and outside of the building.
• Animals must be picked up after at all times. Administrative fees may be levied against the unit should it be noted that this is not occurring.
• Animals are not permitted to urinate on decks, nor on finished or landscaped common
property, both inside and outside. Damage done to grass or plants may be assessed back
to the offending owner’s unit. Dog owners are encouraged to use forested areas adjacent to the buildings and must clean up after pets.
• Dogs left inside units are not permitted to create undo noise such as barking. Continual
noise may result in administrative fees being levied against the owner of the unit, and a requirement to remove the dog from the site.
• Also refer to Crossbow Point By-Laws 68-a-3, other related By-Laws, and website Town of Canmore, Municipal Services, Bylaws, 2003-23 Domestic Animal Control Bylaw.
