ACCESS CONTROL and MONITORING

For additional information please consult the Policies and Procedures Section

Call Panel Access by Strangers
For security reasons, do not allow anyone who buzzes your unit asking for access into the building unless you know the individual personally or that party is visiting your unit.  This is a common ruse that thieves and other undesirable persons may use to gain unauthorized access. It poses risk to both residents and property.

Door Access by Unknown Persons
To prevent uninvited persons from trespassing or gaining unauthorized access into the residential buildings and to the Owners' Fireside Lodge (Amenities Building), do not give them access.  If they are trying to enter the residential buildings, advise them they need to use the Call Panel or cell phone to connect with the resident unit they are wishing to visit. If they are attempting to enter the Fireside Lodge, they must be with a resident from either 155 or 175 (do not use your Access FOB to facilitate their entry). If they display suspicious behaviour or if you feel there is a threat, contact Spillett Security Group Inc. Should you feel that there is personal injury or property damage in progress, then call 911 immediately.

Door Access: Restraints to Hold Doors in Open Position
Do not leave exterior lobby doors in the open position using door restraints if the access is not monitored.  This violates Crossbow By-Laws and could result in extra fee charges to the owner responsible for such action.

Unaccompanied Persons in Owners' Fireside Lodge
If you suspect someone has gained unauthorized access to the Owners' Fireside Lodge or discovered  that someone is trespassing, you should immediately contact Spillett Security Group Inc.  DO NOT PROVOKE A SITUATION THAT WILL COMPROMISE YOUR OWN SAFETY.

Unaccompanied Children in Fireside Lodge
If you see children (under the age of 18) who are not accompanied by a parent and resident in the Fireside Lodge, they should be advised that they are not allowed in the premises.  This is especially true in the games area, exercise area and pool area.  Children under the age of 16 are not allowed under any circumstances to use the Sauna or Steam Rooms.

Surveillance Cameras
The Owners' Fireside Lodge has a number of surveillance cameras to monitor activities.  These are located in the main entrance area of the Fireside Lodge, the pool area, the outdoor hot tub area, the fitness room and the theatre. Cameras have also been installed in the main entrance lobbies of both buildings (155 and 175), the stairwell entrance of building 155 and each garage entries to the underground parking areas. These cameras offer real time surveillance as well as video recording.

FOB
Three key FOBs (radio frequency identifier [RFI] devices) are provided to owners of a unit to access the buildings. They are digital devices that provide traceability of residents who enter a controlled area. If a FOB has been misplaced, lost or stolen, it is important this be reported immediately to PEKA so that the existing FOB code can be deactivated. Then a replacement FOB can be issued.

FOB Access
i) Buildings 155 and 175: FOBs are required to access the building lobbies as well as the 155 side access door
ii) Owners' Fireside Lodge (165): The FOB is used to gain entry to this building. Key access has been restricted. Within the building the FOB is needed to access the pool area, the theatre and the fitness room
iii) Parking garages (155 [east and west entrance] and 175): FOBs are to be used for entering the garages. A post housing the FOB reading device is installed in front of the garage doors
